By doing street photography, I want to find and capture the poetry of the commonplace.
I wrote this text on the 28th of February, 2026. It was a day when I was rucking with the heaviest possible (for me) load of 37.5 kg (83 lbs), walking, and doing street photography in the commonplace of Warsaw. While doing all these things, I was simply grateful that I could walk, cherish my vision that I am here, in this particular place on Earth. The truth is that I do not need much from life to be content: walking, photographing, and enjoying the commonplace is sufficient for me to be happy. From what I remember, walking triggers the release of endorphins. I believe that rucking is releasing it on steroids. How many photos did I take today? Over 160. I believe it was a great result. Also, I took almost 16k steps.
How was that possible?
I was taking breaks. To be more precise, I took three breaks. While taking breaks, I was slowly walking without the heavy burden of my backpack. Why? Because I wanted to add additional steps. Please remember, my Dear Friend, that in the middle of January 2026, I had an injury to my right calf. I feel I still have not fully recovered. That’s why taking these additional steps during the break was, for me, some kind of test to see whether my right calf was OK. Also, during these breaks, I was cherishing the commonplace in which I was.
Does that mean I took pictures while on break? Of course, I did. When I have a camera nearby and if I spot something, I am simply photographing what I see. I love the poetry of street photography. I live it. I cannot wait for the next walk, which should take place tomorrow.
