I wrote this text on the 20th of December, 2025. It was my third written post on that day. Before I started to write it, I asked myself: to read or to write?
Two previous posts I wrote on that day were “Shouldn’t we treat life as a video game?” and “I read Dostoyevsky’s letters for the second time in my life.” After noting them, I asked myself whether I wanted to read or to write. After all, it was late Saturday evening, and I had two options. The next two days, I will be out of the office (during the next week, I will work only once, on Tuesday).
That’s why I know I will be able to get some proper sleep (e.g., today, I was sleeping almost ten hours), and I will have time not only for doing street photography (today, I took over 200 pictures), walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures (today, it was five degrees Celsius [41 degrees Fahrenheit]), and rucking (today, I was walking with 37.5 kg [83 degrees Fahrenheit] on my back and shoulders), but also for reading.
Knowing that, and feeling I have a flow in my mind to write something additionally, I decided to note something down. That’s how this appeared. I think that even after finishing it, I will take a book in my hand and read something. After all, today, I finished reading Dostoyevsky’s letters. It was not the only book I read today. I love both writing and reading. Each time I read, I feel a desire to write something on my own. That’s the way it is in my case. I do not have an ultimate answer, not only for you, my Dear Friend, but also for myself, whether to read or to write. Do what you prefer at the moment. That’s my advice for today.
