The title of this text refers to one of Cyndi Lauper’s greatest songs, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
Today (I wrote this text on the 21st of May, 2026), according to my plan from yesterday, I had a great and long photo walk. I took almost 29k steps and took over 500 pictures. I went from my house in the Mokotów district to the Ursynów district. The weather was ideal for such a long walk (it took me five and a half hours [including a forty-minute break for two black coffees and reading books]); it was sunny, and it was 22 degres Celsius (71.6 degrees Fahrenheit). I do not have to mention that I really enjoyed this photo walk. After all, I could use my overtime from my professional job. The long photo walk brought me so much joy that in the middle of my walk, I told myself:
Street photographers just wanna have fun.
Indeed, without this pure, childish joy and the curiosity of the mundane reality, there would be no street photography. I believe that each street photographer could sign under the title of this text. Tomorrow, I will have another free day (a day without office work). Still, I do not think I would manage to take so many steps. I hope to do so, but I think it would last for a shorter time. I do not believe that my body is used to taking so long walks daily. Perhaps in the future it would be possible.
Still, as of now, I prefer to be more cautious about it. Luckily, the weather should be great again tomorrow. Undoubtedly, tomorrow, I will have fun again, thanks to doing street photography. I cannot imagine my life without this creative and sporting activity. After all, taking almost 29k steps is healthy for one’s body, isn’t it?
